I met DVATE about three years ago when he came over to Adelaide to catch up with fellow SDM partner in crime MONK. He hit up a wall with myself and a bunch of Adelaide’s finest down at Sturt Creek, and to say quite fairly that he owned it is an understatement. The guy paints with an era of class one would expect from a hardworking writer who grew up on the streets of Melbourne; a city renowned for churning out some of Australia’s and the world’s greatest names.
DVATE is no exception, and has gone from strength to strength since our meeting those few years back. These latest works are straight fire, with solid style, technique and use of colour, every bit as fresh as his Melbourne contemporaries. –Vilenism.
Plenty more freshness to catch up on.
